Celebrate With Rainforest Adventures on our 20th Anniversary this 2014!

Rainforest Adventures - 20 years of Sustainable Eco-Tourism

With an eventful 2013 behind us, it’s time to focus on 2014. Our Rainforest Adventures operations continue to expand with new features, renovations, and staff. Currently having 4 key park locations (2 in Costa Rica, 1 in St. Lucia and Jamaica) and a tour excursion in Panama, this year marks the 20th anniversary of Rainforest Adventures. And we are so excited for the years of adventure ahead of us.

Founded in the year 1994, Rainforest Adventures has been very busy focusing on our adventure parks, but that hasn’t taken any of the spotlight of the eco-systems we are protecting. 2013 was a great year for our conservation efforts; we worked to protect migrant bird habitats through the Caribbean and launched two new hiking trails through private protected areas.

Staff Spotlight: Kevin Shank

Safety in Canopy Zip Line Tours
Kevin Shank has been with Rainforest Adventures since 2008. As the Director of Operations, Kevin is Responsible for the course design, safety, and sustainability efforts of each of the Rainforest Adventures parks. On the average, Rainforest Adventures welcomes over 290,000 guests each year, so Kevin is one busy guy.

Kevin has pioneered many industry-leading safety improvements while he has been with Rainforest Adventures, which include: a T-bar zip line handle for increased control; redundant double pulley systems; and safety lines attached to all high-ropes participates.

2013 TripAdvisor Awards:

TripAdvisor 2013 Certificate of Excellence
Thanks TripAdvisor for the great awards this year! We are happy to announce that three of our parks won prestigious certificates of excellence. We couldn’t have done it without our all-star staff and guests like you!

What’s going on in the Rainforest Adventures Parks?

Costa Rica

This year’s feature animal is the Costa Rican Tapir. These distinctive animals can only be found in Central and South America. Ranging from 300 to 700 pounds, these browsing animals walk around the jungles of Costa Rica, looking for foliage to snack on.

Costa Rican Tapir

If you’re heading to Costa Rica this year, make sure you ask our guides (either within our Atlantic or Pacific park) about any recent Tapir sightings.

Jamaica Bobsled

Rainforest Adventures Mystic Mountain Jamaica celebrated its 5th anniversary in 2013, and has unveiled a new half-mile hiking trail through the park.

The whole country of Jamaica was delighted to see the Jamaican athletes compete in the Olympic Games in Sochi. 2014 marks the first year since 1988 that the Jamaican team participated in the bobsleigh event. Being inspired by this sport, you can head down to Jamaica and try bobsled experience in the tropical jungles of Jamaica within Mystic Mountain.

St. Lucia

St. Lucia Jaquot Trail

After winning the 2013 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor, the team at Rainforest Adventures St. Lucia is looking forward to an even better 2014.

The Jacquot Trail Hike, named after St. Lucia’s proud symbol, the Jacquot Parrot, is proving to be one of the most popular attractions of 2014. This interpretative hike takes guests through St. Lucia’s rainforest to marvel at the diversity and beauty of the natural surroundings.

Panama Excursions

The Panama Canal was officially opened on August 15, 1914. That means that this year, the Panama Canal is 100 years old!

This historic site is being expanded this year with construction due to be completed in early 2015. Make sure you come down this year to see the original on one of our Colonial Panama and Miraflores Locks tours.

What’s next?

Rainforest Adventures continues to strive for excellence in tourism, hospitality and sustainability throughout our operations. Thanks to everyone who made 2013 fantastic and here’s looking forward to an amazing 2014!

Thanks everyone and see you soon!
